We apply for your social security and health insurance number (it takes around 3-5 days to receive the numbers).
Within the next 24 hours you will get a welcome e-mail including a certificate of membership and exclusive information regarding how the social security system in Germany works! Please note: If you send the form late on Friday/Saturday/Sunday you will receive an answer on Monday.

- Sick pay: Barmer is here for you when you‘re unable to work for an extended period of time due to illness or injury. We protect the income of employees from the 6th week illness and provide self-employed members with optional sick-pay tariffs.
- Free family insurance cover: With Barmer, you pay a single contribution – no matter how big your family is. This means that your spouse or partner and your children are co-insured free of charge.
- Teeth: Healthy teeth are priceless. BARMER covers the costs for dental treatment and check-ups – without time limit and in accordance with statutory provisions and non-statutory benefits.
- Digital: Manage your health insurance online with the Barmer-App: You can download your health insurance certificate, make changes to your personal details, fill out forms and upload your sick notes from wherever you are.
- Preventive care: You‘re entitled to numerous preventive examinations and screenings, such as our free comprehensive “Check-up” for the early detection of health risks, disease and exposure.
- Skin Check: As a special extra benefit, take advantage of our Skin Check free of charge every two years up to the age of 34. Skin cancer screening is provided as part of the statutory health insurance cover thereafter.
- Additional insurance cover: You also benefit from exclusive rates on a wide range of tailor-made additional insurance policies with our health insurance partner HUK-COBURG Krankenversicherung.
- Getting a second opinion: If you need an operation or have a special illness, we support you to receive valuable second opinions and arrange earlier medical appointments with leading specialist physicians.
- Contraception: You can get the ”pill“ free of charge until your 22nd birthday (the statutory payment is payable from your 18th birthday).
